President Sisi chairs the National Defense Council meeting... and Egypt affirms its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council this morning at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of: the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministers of Interior, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, the Head of the General Intelligence Directorate, the commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces, the Head of the Operations Authority of the Armed Forces, and the Head of the Military Intelligence Authority, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the National Defense Council.
The official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the National Defense Council reviewed all current regional developments and the dangerous developments taking place in the region, especially in light of the escalating and unacceptable attacks against the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and decided accordingly the following:
1- Full support and complete solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the historical relations and strong ties that bind the two brotherly peoples of the two countries, as they are the heart of the Arab nation, and in belief that Saudi national security is linked to Egyptian and Arab national security.
2- Providing all necessary and possible forms of support to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, and to preserve its capabilities, territorial integrity and Islamic holy sites.
3- Continuing and intensifying the political and diplomatic efforts exerted, in coordination with the relevant regional and international parties, in a way that contributes to reducing the escalation in the entire region and settling the crises that the region is witnessing peacefully.
